She came from Texas in 1967, to introduce a well known cosmetics line to happy home makers in sunny california, staying to become the first Director in the entire Pacific Northwest. He came from Phoenix even earlier, to begin what turned into a very long run as the star attraction at at famous Cannery Row nightspot. Eight years later Jerry and Joan met, married and merged talents and careers to form one of the Peninsulašs most successful husband-wife teams.
Both Winters come from musical and artistic families--Jerry started painting in high school, mostly for family and friends, becoming seriously involved only after several years in the gallery business. People quickly fall in love with his nostalgic folk art paintings. Perhaps it's the hint of a simpler, more peaceful life, or it might be Jerry's insatiables humor, a holdover from his earlier career in show business... maybe it's the tiny fluff of a teacup poodle, Mon Petite Ami, hidden in each of Jerry's paintings. Whatever it is, people find a lot to love in a Winters painting.
In 1980, the Winters established their first gallery, after having successfully built, maintained and sold five other Carmel businesses... Jerry Winters Carmel Rancho Florist, The Sweater Shop, Robert John Leather Shop, Joan Winters Boutique and Joanies.
Thirty-two years, seven grandchildren & five great grandchildren later, Joan and Jerry are still going strong. Winters Gallery is recognized as one of the finest Fine Art Galleries to be found anywhere... with the oft' heard customer comment... "the best collection of original fine art we've seen anywhere!"
In an animated, fast-paced, electronic world, the Winters still prefer doing business the old fashioned way. You will be warmly greeted by Joan or Jerry, or Mon Petite Ami, their tiny fluff of a teacup poodle.
